New Wines this week:
Church & State Cabernet Sauvignon $25.90
Brand new release. Come by and taste it on Saturday and Sunday. Church & State never disappoints!
Mission Hill 2006 Oculus 1.5 litres $160.00 51% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot
Captivating aromas of black cherry fruit, dark chocolate and shaved
vanilla bean lead the way for densely packed flavours of blackberries,
plum and bittersweet ganache. Deep, complex, intense and concentrated.
The long, full, persistent finish has ripe and well-integrated tannins
providing a rich, inviting mouthfeel and the structure to hold up well
over the next decade or more.
Inniskillin 2011 Reserve Chardonnay $13.99
Vivid gold in colour, this Chardonnay welcomes the nose with apple and
roasted almond aromas accented with hints of citrus fruit. A rich,
creamy finish with generous tropical fruit notes lingers on the palate.
Jackson-Triggs 2009 Gold Label Chardonnay $17.99
Winemaker Derek Kontkanen gets to “sign” the embossed label and offer a
few observations: “aromatic and full-bodied…with subtle vanilla and
creamy butter undertones.” This is a simply stunning Chardonnay, from
the Okanagan or anywhere—soft and rich with terrific balance and a long,
round finish. Don’t let it sit around waiting for food, get it in a
glass right away—although it does love lobster, salmon and similar
seafoods, and also pairs perfectly with pork tenderloin and Béarnaise.
Bold, rich pasta, even creamy desserts; there isn’t much it won’t match.
Yes, 700 cases seems like a fair lot but word is out and it’ll all be
gone before the spring flowers show up, so get your share. An exquisite
wine that may well rekindle anyone’s flagging interest in B.C.

92/100 Moon Curser 2009 Boarder Vines $24.90 - 2 cases only
This is the new name for what the winery used to call Six Vines –
because it includes all six Bordeaux varietals. The blend is Cabernet
Sauvignon (29%), Malbec (23%), Carmenère (23%), Cabernet Franc (4%) and
Petit Verdot (1%). Production was 1,325 cases. It is a bold red,
beginning with aromas of blueberries and cassis and with generous fruity
flavours. The finish has a hint of spice and pepper, probably the
contribution of the Carmenère. -John Schreiner review
Domaine de Chaberton 2010 Bacchus $15.90
Our signature wine from our Fraser Valley vineyard. This German
varietal, related to Riesling, boasts lively flavours of peach, pears
and ripe apples Delightful and clean, lingering finish. Some of the
Bacchus vines are from the original planting back in 1983 and now are
nearly 30 years old.
Domaine de Chaberton 2010 Dry Bacchus $15.90
Back again after a years of absence from our wine shelves, the acclaimed
Bacchus Dry. Sister wine to the Bacchus, made from grapes grown in our
Langley Estate Vineyard and classified as a "100 Mile Vancouver Diet"
wine. This white wine is crisp and dry with a distinctive fruity bouquet
and a light spice finish.

2010 Seven Deuce White $18.90
A
new, winning white. Pinot Gris lightly kissed with Gewurztraminer.
Consummates a chicken, fish, or shellfish dish — but is lip-smackingly
good all on its own. Don't be surprised when this off-dry original
becomes your summer standby sipper. 2010 Straight Flush Blush $15.90
Think pink, and expect a controlled riot of ripe, succulent fruit on the
tongue. Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris infused with well-aimed splashes of
Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Served well-chilled, this
blushing beauty complements seafood, poultry, and spicy offerings.
2009 Seven Deuce Red $18.90
No bluff: this one's even better than our 2008 (which sold out
lickety-split). A big red blend of Merlot, Shiraz, and 'Cab' from
Osoyoos small lots. Oak barreled for an impressive 16 months. Cellarable
for 6-8 years. A stunning complement to the grill, it's the one to pour
at your next "high steaks" game. Scoop this one up — while you still
can.
2007 Pocket Kings Red $34.90
John Schreiner: "A polished wine built around 66% Merlot, 19% Cabernet
Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. On the palate, there is a delicious
core of sweet fruit - black cherry with a hint of mocha. The tannins are
long and ripe. The wine has the structure to cellar well even though it
tastes so good right now." -John Schreiner review

Poplar Grove 2009 Chardonnay $22.00
Only a small amount of Poplar Grove Chardonnay is made each year, making
it both limited & delicious. This elegant Chardonnay has aromas of
Granny Smith apples & honey. Melon & peach flavours arrive on
the first blush in the mouth. Mineral & citrus notes come through
on the finish. 20% of the grapes were aged in French oak barrels, which
adds a nuance of richness and hints of toasted vanilla. Enjoy with
richer seafood dishes.
Church & State Cabernet Sauvignon $25.90
Brand new release. Come by and taste it on Saturday and Sunday. Church & State never disappoints!
Nk'Mip 2008 Qwam Qwmt Cabernet Sauvignon $30.00
Rich with dried black fruit and cassis wrapped in toasty spicy cedar,
this fully structured Cabernet Sauvignon leads the palate to contemplate
complex flavours of berry, vanilla, coffee, capsicum and cherry.
In the case of a price discrepancy, the price at the till will be deemed correct
